New Chickens

6th April 2012 by Martin

Sinead has become the owner of six chickens

  • 2 Bovan Nera’s
  • 2 Belle Blue/Haze
  • 2 White Rangers

They have all settled well into their new purple home, and are laying well. They are also doing their best to eat their way through all the plants in the garden, and are providing hours of amusement for Orla (the border collie) who thinks controlling chickens is what she was born to do – some day we may introduce her to sheep!

Digital X-ray

10th February 2011 by Martin

We have just purchased a digital dental x-ray unit. Having this unit allows us within a matter of seconds to accurately image any tooth in an anaesthetised animal and identify any teeth which require extraction. It has become normal practice in human dentistry to x-ray teeth before extractions are performed, and we feel we should be doing this also. This is of particular importance in cats where often the damaged and painful part of the tooth can be below the gumline and the only warning may be a redness of the gums (gingivitis).
